We are proud to be an approved centre for the new City & Guilds Personal Licence Training for on and off sales. These courses combine the former ServeWise training from Alcohol Focus Scotland with City & Guilds standards to offer a new nationally recognised certificated qualification. Focussing on the Licensing Scotland Act 2005 the information is current, giving details of the new requirements of legislation and changes in licence details. Supported by the Scottish Executive, this is the training your local Licensing Board members complete and recognise. Once successfully completed this training allows application for a Personal Licence.
‘Without doubt they are the most comprehensive courses available in the Scottish Licensed Trade.’ Paul Waterson, Chief Executive, Scottish Licensed Trade Association.
Underage drinking, drink driving, criminal incidents related to alcohol and alcohol related accidents and death statisitcs show that we need to think carefully in Scotland about HOW we serve alcohol and to WHOM we serve it to.
Many people think that working in a bar is an easy job. It’s not! Amongst the many roles that you often have to juggle (as well as serving) are friend, salesperson, social worker and police officer. Whether you are a manager or a staff member, you are an enforcer of the law, under which you have legal responsibilities.
The City & Guilds training programme has been developed to deal specifically with these issues, and is aimed at all those involved in the sale of alcohol.
Working in partnership with City & Guilds, Tickety-Boo Scotland provide short courses relevant to customer requirements:
- City & Guilds Personal Licence Holder On Sales
- City & Guilds Personal Licence Holder Off Sales
- Half Day Update course for those who have completed the ServeWise + Course in the last 3 years
- Staff Qualifications are hoped to be available from Easter
- Staff Induction Workbooks currently available
As a recognised accredited centre we support Alchohol Focus Scotland in their aim to:
- set professional, responsible standards for everyone involved in the sale of alcohol
- to reduce the incidence of accidents and crime resulting from alcohol misuse and irresponsible practice
- to improve the quality of licensed premises and help provide a safer environment in which to work, live and socialise
The Benefits of City & Guilds
- Relevant to conditions on licensed premises uses licensees’ and staff’s practical experience for learning
