The ILM Level 6 Award in Management has been designed to provide practising or potential senior managers with a solid foundation for their formal development in this role.
This concise qualification also forms a valuable bridge from Level 5 to Level 7 with the additional benefit of allowing 12 credits to be carried forward to a Level 7 Certificate or Diploma in Executive Management, or 6 credits towards a Level 7 Certificate or Diploma in Strategic Leadership. Therefore it is an ideal qualification for organisations seeking incremental management development for its personnel.
They may work in factories and offices, in hospitals, in call centres, on building sites, in leisure centres, in the armed services or voluntary sector. Wherever people and resources are employed, managers with an ILM Level 6 Award in Management qualification ensure they are employed effectively.
The Award consists of 2 mandatory units. In ‘Developing the executive manager’ participants collect and analyse feedback on their personal management practice and effectiveness. This information is then evaluated against significant management theories/models and schools/trends in management thinking.
To finish the unit, participants identify strengths in their own management practice and prepare an action plan to address areas for improvement.
In the second unit of the Award, ‘Critical thinking and research skills in management’, participants critically review an influential theory or model of best practice that is relevant to their role. This unit also concentrates on selecting and applying an appropriate research technique into personal management and leadership practice.

The Award consists of at least 1 hour Induction, at least 7 hours Tutorial support and 2 mandatory units with a combined credit value of 12. There is a minimum of 34 hours Guided learning.
Notional credit value is a minimum of 12 credits.
Assessment of mandatory units is work-based assignment
The whole programme completes within 1 year to provide you with the knowledge and skills you need to perform effectively in the high pressure world of the 21st century. |

There are no formal entry requirements but participants will normally be practising or aspiring managers with the opportunity to meet the assessment demands and have a background that will enable them to benefit from the programme.
